G-FORCE GENOVA Carpet Edition: A Rear-Motor 2WD Buggy Built for High Grip

G-FORCE has taken its retro-inspired GENOVA 2WD buggy and aimed it directly at modern high-grip racing with the new GENOVA Carpet Edition. Released September 19, 2026, the GK201 keeps the platform’s traditional rear-motor layout and 292mm wheelbase, but adds a group of changes specifically intended for carpet and artificial-turf tracks.

That combination makes this release interesting. Instead of turning the GENOVA into another modern mid-motor 2WD buggy, G-FORCE kept the character of the car and worked on the areas that matter when grip comes up: front-end authority, ride height, roll control, tires, and suspension support.

Making a Rear-Motor Buggy Work on High Grip

Rear-motor 2WD buggies naturally put a lot of mass toward the back of the car. That can be great for forward traction, but carpet racing asks for something different. High-speed direction changes and aggressive corner entry can expose a car that rolls too much or does not keep enough load on the front tires.

G-FORCE addresses that with a new front wing and machined aluminum wing mount. According to the manufacturer, the goal is to suppress front lift, maintain front-tire contact pressure and reduce understeer. The aluminum mount also adds a small amount of mass at the nose of the car.

From a racer’s perspective, that is probably one of the most interesting pieces of the Carpet Edition. Rather than changing the entire layout, G-FORCE is using aero and weight placement to help the GENOVA rotate on a surface where the rear tires already have plenty of grip.

Carpet-Specific Springs and Lower Ride Height

The kit also receives dedicated Carpet Edition shock springs. G-FORCE says the wire diameter, coil count and overall spring length were developed specifically for carpet. The shorter spring package allows a lower ride height while helping control excessive chassis roll.

That matters because a soft, tall dirt setup can quickly become difficult to drive when the grip level rises. Too much roll can slow transitions and increase the chance of traction rolling. A lower car with more appropriate spring support should feel more direct and predictable through fast sections.

Tires, Inserts and Wheels Are Included

The Carpet Edition comes with dedicated front and rear carpet tires rather than making racers immediately replace the kit rubber. The rear tires also receive newly developed Carpet Edition inserts, and the kit includes bright 2.2-inch wheels using hex-style hubs.

For someone entering 1/10 off-road racing, including a surface-specific tire package makes the car easier to get on track. Experienced racers will still tune tires, inserts and preparation to their local surface, but having a complete carpet-oriented starting point is a much better approach than supplying a dirt tire that will never be used indoors.

The GENOVA Platform Is Still Underneath

The new parts do not erase what made the GENOVA different in the first place. It remains a rear-motor 2WD buggy with a long 292mm wheelbase. The kit uses high-rigidity composite suspension arms, big-bore oil shocks, a slipper clutch, metal gearbox gears, universal joints, full bearings and adjustable turnbuckle-style suspension links.

G-FORCE lists the car at 405mm long with the wing and tires installed, 248mm wide at the front and 245mm at the rear. The standard drivetrain uses an 80-tooth 48-pitch spur and 23-tooth pinion for an 8.39:1 listed gear ratio. Electronics, motor, battery and radio equipment are sold separately.

Key Carpet Edition Changes

  • Front wing for additional front downforce
  • Machined aluminum front-wing mount
  • Dedicated front and rear Carpet Edition tires
  • New Carpet Edition rear tire inserts
  • Carpet-specific shorter shock springs
  • 2.2-inch hex-drive wheels
  • Updated Carpet Edition decals
  • High-rigidity composite suspension arms
  • Rear-motor layout and 292mm wheelbase retained

Why Racers Should Pay Attention

The GENOVA Carpet Edition is not trying to replace the current generation of ultra-low, mid-motor competition buggies. That is exactly why it is interesting. G-FORCE has taken a car with a more traditional layout and made targeted changes so it can live on the same modern high-grip surfaces.

For racers who like the feel of a rear-motor car, enjoy a more classic buggy layout, or simply want something different in the pits, the Carpet Edition gives the GENOVA a much more purpose-built starting point for indoor racing.

The bigger question will be how the balance feels once racers start pushing it hard. A front wing, lower ride height and stiffer carpet spring package should help the car change direction, but the rear-motor layout will still give it a different driving character than the mid-motor cars most racers are used to today.

Would you race a modernized rear-motor 2WD buggy on carpet, or are you sticking with a mid-motor platform?
